Summer So Far

Why has it been so long? I have a few ideas but not good enough excuses, so I’m sorry.

Work has been pretty manic that last few months with new, additional responsibilites but that’s life. Maybe it’s the excitement of summer that’s preoccupied my time? I must say, I have been out and about a lot more than usual. I went away earlier in the summer to Tenerife with my family. I wasn’t overly excited about the destination but family time is my favourite. I also went to my first festival (don’t judge my lateness to the party)! I went to V Festival with a group of friends last weekend and I can say that I laughed, a lot. Also I realised that I’m a trooper, drinking for 3 days straight isn’t usually my style (not out of choice) but I had no need to complain once.

I thought I would share some pictures of my summer up until now just so you can see what I’ve been doing, and wearing. In the meantime I’ll be working on my current ASOS hot list for you, keep an eye out ❤

Feeling Blue

Every shop I go into, or any website I shop on, all I’m seeing right now is blue. Zara is full of every kind of blue shirt or blouse you could dream of from cropped collared numbers to striped off-the-shoulder beauties (actually search ‘blue top’ on Zara, you could be there for hours). I’m usually not one for a particular trend and just wear what I want but honestly, I think something’s wrong because everything I’m buying is blue and blouse-y right now.

In the last month I have gathered up 3 new favs for my wardrobe…

From left to right: I can’t stop wearing this top, any place I can wear it where people haven’t seen me in it I will. Full Top it’s called by Zara so a bit over sized but I like that, especially with the cute collar. The detailing on the sleeves is fab and there’s also cuteness on the back.. but I’ll let you find that.
Number 2, I’m actually wearing as I type. Let’s not pretend that the off the shoulder trend isn’t taking the world by storm, but honestly? I have had to rearrange and pull at this top multiple times today to keep it in place. Saying that though, that may just be my shoulders. Either way, it won’t stop me wearing it. Matched with jeans and some pointy shoes I’m feeling pretty fly. (Striped Poplin Top).
Lastly, this is a great summer dress BUT I was so lazy when trying it on that I kept my black jeans on. BEST LOOK EVER. I never thought I would be a jeans and dress kinda gal and I so am. This is a lot comfier than it’s previous sister and can literally been thrown on for a super chic look.

Thought I would put together some more blue inspo as well for ya…

Enjoy and I’ll be back soon ❤

ASOS Hot List

I’m really struggling at the moment and I think that’s why I’m posting less. I’m constantly online looking at clothes but can honestly find nothing that’s inspiring enough to post about, let alone buy.

To be fair, we are in the weird transition period between Winter and Summer, the hard to dress for season, Spring. It’s not warm enough to have bare legs (not for me anyway) but it’s almost too warm for jeans. Dilemma huh? How am I meant to shop for that?

Anyway, I have however put together some of the best things to get on ASOS, by ASOS at the moment. ASOS’ own brand I’m a big fan of, really good prices for basics but having a premium range like ASOS WHITE gives shoppers the opportunity to buy for their current budget without having to look elsewhere.

Here are some of my most liked pieces that I’m looking for an excuse to buy. These are must haves for the upcoming Summer months and give a little nod to current trends as well.

PicMonkey Collage11. ASOS Shirt Dress with Frill Hem in Stripe 2. ASOS Mini Slip Dress with Eyelash Lace Detail 3. ASOS Western Jacket In Suede

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate the most beautiful suede western jacket. I’ve been searching high and low for a Summer jacket that I can throw over a dress and I think this will be the one.

All these pieces really are lovely though, all staples for your summer wardrobe ❤

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation Review

After being stubborn for so many years, I decided to give in and spend a little bit extra on my foundation. What’s happened to me?

I will always be a fan of high street favourites like Maybelline and Revlon but I knew it was time for me to spend a little bit extra on the perfect foundation. Both my Mum and sister insist it’s the one make up product that’s worth spending your money on, and my god, were they right…

As I spoke about in my previous post – Foundation Recommendation – I really do love Max Factors Miracle Match foundation and will always keep a bottle of it. That was really my first step to buying a better foundation with Miracle Match coming in at £12, it was more than I was used to spending. But now, it’s a whole new level.

I spent a good amount of time researching and reading blog posts about the best ‘designer’ foundations on the market. I wanted something that suited my skin type, gave me a dewy finish, enough cover and had yellow tones rather than pink. After thinking about it for some I sucked it up and purchased Nars Sheer Glow foundation for £31.

I’m more than pleased with the outcome. No word of a lie, I have had more compliments on my make up than ever before. It makes my skin look silky and flawless. Dependent on your skin type I would recommend this to almost everyone. The perfect amount of cover without looking ‘caked’. It’s completely light weight and feels like your skin can still breathe.

My main want from foundation is something that lasts. With high street products my foundation would tend to go blotchy by the end of the day or would just slowly come off. But using Nars, I look as good when I get home as I do when I leave the house! I always start with a primer which may help but I think that’s an everyday product for most women now (if you’re looking for a knew one though, I’m obsessed with Benefit’s POREfessional face primer). Coming in at £31 you get all the benefits of a designer foundation but a much better price.

Only one con to this foundation and that’s the quantity. It doesn’t have a dispenser so you’re pouring straight out from the glass bottle. The first time I made the mistake of pouring out far too much and could see my money flowing down my hand (I lovingly scooped the excess back in so panic over). Nars do offer a dispenser but I don’t think it’s worth it. I now hold my foundation brush over the top and use a small amount at a time until my face is covered.

So, my new words of advise are, get yourself a pricey foundation. It’s 100% worth it and you won’t look back. Even if you are as tight with your money as I am 😉 ❤

Procrastinators Rejoice

Hi guys, I’m sorry my posts have become far more sparse. I don’t know how I’ve become so super busy but it seems I don’t get a second for myself nowadays, let alone a chance to write a new post. But, I’m here now so thought I would let you know what’s new and more importantly, what I’ve been wearing!

I think I mentioned before that I now have a Grazia subscription which I love, but totally forgot it’s weekly! I panicked when I had two waiting for me. I wont lie about enjoying a long Grazia sesh but as it comes so often I will be forcing myself to spend time with me and dedicate time to read every week.

What does this have to do with anything I hear you ask? Well I came across a fab quote that I found highly relatable and made me feel better about my lack of posts and creativity at the moment. I took a quick snap on my phone before turning over the page so soz for the rubbish quality.

So it’s all okay. I haven’t lost all sense of creativity, I just don’t know what to write about at the moment. I think that’s okay, I would prefer that than to write about something I wasn’t interested in.

Anyway… Moving on to what I’ve been wearing.

PicMonkey Collage

As always, a lot of black. I cant get out of black jeans at the moment and I’m a massive denim wearer so need to bring back my blues before I forget they exist.

From left to right

  1. I featured this top on my last post – What’s New In My Wardrobe – and I had been dying to wear it. With the weather finally warming up I risked it and luckily wasn’t cold. This picture probably doesn’t do it justice but I had numerous compliments during the day so I’m definitely pleased with it as a new piece. Matched with Mango black jeans and my new Topshop babes, also feature in my last post, What’s New In My Wardrobe.
  2. I can’t believe I haven’t put anything up about this coat yet. I wanted it so long ago and even spoke about my love for it in a past post – Payday Pieces– from back in July! It was rather pricey then so I waited about 5 months until it was reduced!
  3. Lastly was me on my Birthday! This is so many different items put together that I have featured on blog posts previously.

So, what to blog about next? I need some tips on how to get my creative juices flowing. With such little spare time on my hands at the moment I don’t get the chance to just sit and think ‘what do I want to write a post about?’ or ‘what’s relevant at the moment for me?’ Any advise would be muchos appreciated. Plus, I want to know how everyone’s preparing their wardrobes for summer. For me, I can definitely say you’ll be seeing a lot of bell sleeves, bare shoulders and ruffles. Watch this space  ❤
